Sewing Progress

A lot of quilters are picking a word for there quilting goals for 2014.  Although I have not come up with a formal quilt goal for the year I can pick a word.  I'ts .................

RESTASH

I want to really work on purging out a lot of old, ugly, not quilt worthy fabric so I can add some new exciting yardage.  I like the size of my stash just not all the content.  So most of the year I need to work on using stash up and getting it out.  So in Nov. -- Dec.  I can buy some new.  Yeah.

I've never made a Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt before.  But when I seen here color suggestions I had some fabric that would fit perfect so I thought why not.  I love the quilt so far even though it has some of my uglies hidden in it. I have all of part A blocks together and about 8 of part B left to do.  Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have the blocks together.  Here are a couple of my part A blocks.  I loved being able to find a place to use up the white fabric with the golf bags on it.  It just blends in there.  Also the dark green with the hearts on it(a real oldie)  and a few others are out of the stash and not making a quilt ugly.  I may need to take a closer look at some of Bonnie's old mystery quilts and try another this year.

For Rainbow scrap challenge I've been using up blue fabric.  I made a couple of double hour glass blocks and finished up the mountain majesty blocks from last week.  Celtic mystery quilt has been holding up my RSC progress.  Here is the link for the directions to the hour glass blocks.  Love how easy there are.  Here is a tutorial using a card stock template if you don't have the right ruler.

Great to use your STASH! Blocks are looking great. I had to start a 2nd Mystery in Bonnie's colorway too. Cute hourglass blocks. This is the 2nd mystery I've kept up with. Easy Street was my 1st.

What great hourglass blocks. Great choice for RSC. Glad to see another Bonnie Hunter fan in the making. Watch out though, she has designed WAY too many wonderful quilts. It can become an addiction.

totally on the same page as you about the stash, what a great idea! a nov-dec buying streak sounds like a joyful thing indeed :)
