No Quilt progress

What can I say no quilty things this week. Last week we took a short trip up to the NW corner of South Dakota. North of the Black Hills. The views over the landscape were breath taking. Nice to just spend time with my hubby no distractions.

No quilt progress.... I've been using the kitchen counter to cut my quilt an hour project. My good rotary cuter is packed some where in a box can't find it. I did find my old one with the nicked cutting wheel I've been using it and just being patient with it. Last week end we had guests so I picked my quilty mess up. Now this week I can't find my old rotary cutter. So I can't cut the sashing or the borders for the hour a day quilt. Is that sad or what? I've wasted enough time looking for both of them. I'm not going to break down and buy a new one am I? I hope one of them turns up soon. Can't wait till the basement gets finished. I have a small sewing/craft room planned. Not real big it's more like a big storage closet. But it will be nice to get my sewing stuff in one place and get it organized.

Here's a basket block I saved off an e-bay auction. I just love it.

Very pretty - I've already got South Dakota on my list of places to visit once we move to Minneapolis.

My favorite part of the quilt block is the patchwork handle. I've got to remember this. I've never seen that before.

This view is indeed breathtaking!! Now I can imagine it in my mind. It looks a bit to wyoming/Utah where we have been :-)

And the basketblock is gorgeous!! I am looking often at ebay but never dare to bid.... maybe in future

I am not usually enthralled by basket blocks, but this one has a certain charm, perhaps it is the patchwork on the handle as well as all the detail in the base. Good find.

Things do tend to get lost, but the minute you buy a new one, the old one will show up. If you decide to get a new one, you could get one of the pink breast cancer ones and that would be a good excuse. =)

The basket block is great. I haven't seen one with that kind of handle before. Too bad you couldn't get the blocks themselves!

And we are *way* up in the NW part of SD! Lemmon. It's mostly rolling hills here, and very pretty - except there's been no rain for most of the summer.

Really nice basket block you found on eBay. I try to stay away from there, myself! I keep seeing deals on fabric I just can't resist... lol

Pretty place. Its nice to get out now and then. That's a pretty block too. It looks quilted already. Hope you find your rotary cutter soon.

There's something really special about old quilt blocks - even if they are orphans like this one. Congrats on rescuing it :)
