Judy's Challange

I'm doing Judy's quilt for an hour challenge. I have a lot of extra things going on right now but I didn't want to miss out. I don't have friends that quilt. I don't go to any quilt guilds or retreats or classes. This blog and looking at others blogs is the only quilt communication I have with other people. I really enjoy bloging. I can do it on my own time. So I have been enjoying the challenge. I hope Judy does another one when this one is done. It's fun to see other peoples progress.

Anyway..............

Hour one day one. Hmmm I just moved my sewing stuff is still packed. I spent the hour pulling fabric finding my rotary cutter and matt. I then cut the fabrics for the hst.

So I started out being an hour behind on my first day. But it's great to start a new project. I haven't started one since March.

Tuesday day 2 I sewed up all the hst but did not get to cut them apart or press them.

Wednessday day 3 got the hst done.

Thursday day 4 started sewing the blocks together.

Lizzy, I'm so glad you found quilter's blogland to hang out in. I have a small group of quilter friends that I have met with for over 10 years now and they really keep me inspired. At least now you have inspiration all around you! And what a great group this is! Your blocks look great and just remember it's not a race, just a commitment to dedicate an hour of our time to sewing. A little bit each day adds up.

I too use blogland and an online group (Internationl Friendship Quilters) as my guild/ quilting companions. It fits my schedule so much better than guild meetings in the city :-)

So glad you could make this quilt along with everyone else. It is nice to know you have quilting friends on the blog, isn't it?

Good job, Lizzy. It is fun to sew on a project and know that others are working on the same thing.

You are right, it is fun looking at how everyone is progressing, even though I am not participating in this right now. It is like a virtual quilting bee. I don't have hang out with quilters either.
As long as you spend the hour, no matter how fast or how slow you work on it, you have still done a great job, making progress. Take the time to enjoy what you are doing. There's no rush.

I too use my blog to connect with other quilters. My JOB and family leave little time to connect in person with others. You have a great start on this project.

I'm thinking about joining a local quilt group, but keep dragging my feet - mainly I think because they meet in the am, and I would have to get up at the crack of dawn. I work night shift, so 7am on a day off is not my best hour! Blogland is great - one day I hope I can join one of the Rings and be a real part of a group.

Hi Lizzy, I'm sure following the time line exactly on which day isn't really all that important..*VBS*, main thing is that you are making this new quilt..*S*
I'm so far behind(due to multiple appointments last week) I can't even see the others ahead of me...LOL
It's fun to have a bunch of people doing the same project...all the quilts look so different.
Glad you have joined us..*VBS*

Guilds are not always all they're cracked up to be. For the past couple of years, I've belonged to 2. I'm not going back to one-the entire focus has changed and it's not very friendly anymore.
I get more from everyone online, too.
I give you so much credit for moving ahead with the hour a day quilt when your life is so topsy-turvy.
