9 patches

Norma from Silver Thimble Quilting posted a 9 patch picture on her blog. Thought I would share the one I'm working on. I might change my mind and make one like hers this one is taking to much time to piece. I have all the 9 patches sewn most are left over from an earlier project. But I've only got one circle done. Pin and sew takes a long time

Oh the pattern is from a book I have called Easy Nine Patch Quilting. The skill level is experienced. I had to make my own patterns so my left over 9 patches would work. The pattern was called rainbow of rings. by Carol Schere

Isn't amazing how much can be done with a ninepatch? I have seen very few that I don't like. This is very pretty, but I think that I would go bonkers doing it, too many places for me to goof.

What a neat design -- I can't wait to see how it turns out. Keep us posted.

what a lovely layout... the circles look like slow going though. It'll be gorgeous and well worth it :-0

I love your 9 patch version. I think it is too difficult for me. I prefer to piece straight lines and add curves to my quilts in the actual quilting. Good for you to rise to the challenge! Keep us posted on your progress!

Jack's chain---not an easy pattern to make but good use of those tiny four patches. Norma's quilt looked pretty cool but so does this if you chose to persevere.

Very pretty but I think way too complicated for me - I'd keep losing track of what had to be stitched to each other - good for you for tackling it :o)

I think your version is the more pretty even if I like Norma's version is lovely too.
I guess it is a no pain no gain thing ;-)

PS. Bad spelling - or something.... I am sure you got my meaning anyway :-)

That is also called "Jack's Chain" and in my book it is a "hard" pattern....

That's going to be a beauty! Can't wait to watch its progression!

Easy Nine Patches? Um, I don't think so! The pattern is beautiful, though.

WOW! It's a really, really pretty quilt top Lizzy. But it sure does look time consuming! I suspect the outcome will be worth the effort tho..*VBS* It's very unique. Hugs, Finn

I give you credit for even trying it! Beautiful quilt, but getting all those circles flat will not be easy.

WOW - I've never seen anything like that ring pattern before. No wonder they call it 'experienced'. I bet it will look stunning when done though :)

this pattern is also known as Jack's Chain, and I started one a few years back...lots of work indeed-it's in Marti Mitchell's book 101 9 patch quilts or something like that :-)

It's been a while since a pattern has caught my eye like this one did. Beautiful!! I am finding a pattern to my thinking..I likpe scrappy, but when there is alot of white or light background I find that I love that even more. Thanks for sharing
