Whirly bird blocks

I've been playing with these left over hst from a quilt top I finished. I posted a picture of it 5/08/2006 Scrap Angels Quilt Top. It's smaller then I originally planned. So I had leftovers. Made some pinwheel blocks. Then cut some more to make them come out even. I need to press the blocks and square them up. Trying to come up with how to set them in a quilt. First I thought just alternate blocks with plain blocks.

Then I thought maybe a random lay out. But I like quilts that look antique. Or else I could alternate with stepping stones blocks. That would mean more sewing.
I would have to sew the stepping stone blocks.

This block is my favorite.

Guess I'm leaning toward a random setting. I've never tried that before.

once you get them squared up, try laying them out randomly and see how they look. Why add more sewing if you'd like to try a random setting? :-)

I like the blocks. They will look good no matter what setting you choose.

I have a bunch of those little blocks from my pineapple flannel quilts I've been making. I'll have to see how you put them all together. I think I would just put sashing between them.
