new house

Thought I would share a pic of the new house my husband and I are moving into.
It's in a bigger town about 70 miles from where we live now. Both of our adult children live there. Our son has been there 1 year and our daughter 4 years.
We've decided to down size. Smaller house smaller yard. But some how the garage is just a little bit bigger. hmmm We are closing out our home building business here and are going to semi retire. ( Maybe I could work at the LQS would that be work or just fun) We've been moving every 1 or 2 years here so the idea of staying in one place for a while sounds so appealing. More to do in a bigger town. Closer to our kids. The bad thing is leaving our friends here. But it's not that far. We will still keep in touch.

Leaving is never easy. But just think...A new home, less yard to mow. I've always wanted a gray house. Anywhere can be home if you have your family with you. You don't realize how much stress you will take out of your children's lives by being closer. My kids are still at home (teenagers), but my Mom and Dad live 1200 miles away. I worry when they are sick, when something breaks. I'd give anything to sit and watch a Packer game on Sundays with my Dad. I love Christmases, but I can't go home. I'm not home sick, but I worry about THEM being alone.

Make the leap and never look back. Find a good church and a quilt shop and everything will fall into place.

Closer to the kids should be much better and staying in one place even better.

I'm like Melanie--almost 800 miles from most of my family. Just cannot be there for all the family events even if it was our choice to move. Like you said, an hour away is not bad for keeping up with your friends

I'm not one for putting down roots anywhere. the house I'm in now is the longest I've lived anywhere as an adult, and that is 5 years! It feels like forever, and I must admit that I've considered selling and buying something else in the same city... Hope you enjoy

That looks like a lovely house. I am sure you will enjoy it once the moving part is out of the way!

Cheers!
