Log Cabin Amish Style

This Quilt has been at this stage for 3 years. The squares sewed up very quickly. I love the pattern and the way the quilt turned out. But.............. Quilting with black thread on black fabric is very hard I can't see it. Why didn't I know this when I started. One good thing is that there is not a lot of black and I like the quilting on the colored part but that black is such a pain.

Lizzy, the quilt is gorgeous and deserves to see the light of day but I agree, the black is hard to see to quilt--and mark so you can see WHERE to quilt. The biggest Amish thing I have made and quilted was a wall hanging back in the early 90's but I also have the starts of a Galactic Twinkle. It will machine done though.

Could you share your pattern source?

Wow - this is wonderful! I love it! Didn't know about quilting on black though - will have to keep that in mind in case I ever decide to tackle something with black. Your quilt is really special!

Cheers!

Lovely quilts - I bought my "Amish" quilt - authentic pattern... So I don't have to suffer through the quilting on black...

Oh, this is a wonderful quilt. The colors just sparkle! Some one told me about black fabric and quilting a long time ago. I have seen some Amish quilts with colored thread on the black fabric and it was stunning.
