Chinese Checker Quilt

My second finish for the year. I started this quilt about 8 years ago. My inspiration was a quilt I had seen at a quilt show.

I cut the triangle pyramid pieces out and sewed then into pyramids and then got stuck as to how to sew them up and what to do about a back ground. How to space the stars etc....

I finally picked a background and changed some of the colors and have all of these left over. Guess I'll need to come up with a project that will use them up don't want to waste any fabric.

I machine quilted it using a meandering pattern on the stars and a teardrop in the corners of the pyramid pieces of the back ground.
I love the back ground fabric I wanted something not to busy and not to plain and this piece I inherited from my mom worked out great.

Does it look like a Chinese checker board???

Beautiful work! My mom used to hand quilt after machine sewing the top together...tons of work, but nice result. I enjoyed looking at your pics. I don't quilt, but I can appreciate the craft!

Sure looks complicated and that it would take very precise piecing - a wonderful quilt!
